One of our more recent projects that encompassed multiple engineering disciplines is the work we did on the Route 130/ New Jersey Turnpike- PA Extension interchange and barrier toll plaza facilities. The RBA Group provided planning and design of the new interchange and barrier toll plaza facilities including high speed Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) bypass lanes, turnpike mainline widening and reconstruction to accommodate new toll plaza facilities and access ramps. Design of access ramps and fly-over structures were developed. This project also included the reconstruction and widening of adjacent local intersections and demolition of existing partial interchange and toll plaza, including utility building and access ramps. Additional elements were new toll plaza facilities that included state of the art mainline and ramp utility buildings, mainline employee access tunnel, ETC facilities, digital automated ticket issuing machines, fiber optic communication lines and microwave tower. Improvements also required rerouting of Bustleton Creek, integration of stormwater management facilities including infield basins and drainage swales, construction of a five-acre wetland mitigation site within the access ramp infield and cleanup of hazardous materials site. These improvements won The RBA Group a "Distinguished Award" from the 2001 American Consulting Engineers Council Awards Committee.
