THE RBA GROUP TO PROVIDE GOLF COURSE DESIGN WORK FOR UPPER MONTCLAIR COUNTRY CLUB

Morristown, NJ -- Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, NJ has retained The RBA Group's golf course design and engineering divisions for developing a master plan for course renovations. The Club has hosted a number of PGA Tour events, most recently the Cadillac/NFL Classic in 2002. Improvements to the 27-hole A. W. Tillinghast/Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course presently on the drawing board include installation of a new irrigation system, reshaping tee and bunker complexes, rerouting/resurfacing of cart paths and course drainage upgrades. A. John Harvey, ASGCA, lead golf course architect with RBA will oversee the master planning process and construction.

"Upper Montclair is posturing itself to invest in its greatest asset" according to Harvey, adding "The remnants of what Tillinghast started in the 1930's and Jones later redesigned when the Garden State Parkway segmented the course during the 1950's will be retooled. Course remodeling will take into account improving strategy with the repositioning of tees and bunkers given today's players and advancements in equipment; along with improving drainage, given pressures from increased urban run-off that have contributed towards wet conditions that exist on a few holes. We are excited to assist the Club with the development of a comprehensive master plan." Harvey worked with Messer's Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich collectively for 15 years prior to joining RBA in 2002.

The Club is planning on attracting new members and hosting future tour events as the result of remodeling its golf course. The Club is also considering rehabilitation of the existing maintenance facility, or construction of a new building all together.

The RBA Group is a multi-disciplined firm of engineers, architects, and planners who have served the building and infrastructure needs of municipalities, state and federal and private organizations for over thirty-seven years, with six offices along the east coast.
