The development of a new golf course requires careful site selection, creative course layout and planning, formalizing the Client's goals and objectives while laying the ground work for sensitive field design and construction. It is essential that the Golf Course Architect and the consultants examine various types of site information to aid the Owner(s) with developing initial schematic alternatives based on program needs.
The planning process starts with walking the property under consideration for the development of the course with any available mapping in hand. During site investigation any potential opportunities and constraints are noted in the field. Once the initial visit and assessment is made, the route planning process can begin.
